DECADE-X: Industry gets organized for the supply chain digitalization

Major companies of the aerospace and defence Industry have joined forces to launch DECADE-X (Digital ECosystem for Aerospace and DEfence), an association aiming at building up a new trusted digital ecosystem for the Industry. Airbus, BoostAeroSpace, Collins Aerospace, Liebherr and Thales will collaborate on the first bricks of a new trusted digital ecosystem to tackle the challenges of the industry with a digital collaborative ecosystem for interoperable solutions.

Priority is given to four areas:

Supply chain resilience

New product development and industrialisation

Product conformity, traceability and regulation compliance

Sustainability and responsible development

The core principles of DECADE-X are data sovereignty, interoperability, security and comprehensive  representation at all industry levels,” said Pierre-Emmanuel Raux, Chairman of DECADE-X. “Those key objectives will drive DECADE-X to lead the aerospace and defence industry into a new era of innovation and collaboration”.

Today, about 10,000 companies including a very large proportion of Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are active in the aerospace and defence industry and collaborate within a very complex and interdependent supply chain.

Key success factors to ensure their future are on-time deliveries of reliable high-quality systems as well as components and innovation materials preparing the next generation of more sustainable products and services to meet environmental and societal challenges.

About DECADE-X

DECADE-X (Digital ECosystem for Aerospace and DEfence) is an international non-profit association established to drive the development of a sovereign, interoperable, and secure digital ecosystem for the aerospace and defence sectors.

Originating from a 2023 initiative where 18 leading industry players explored the concept of Data Spaces —drawing on the GAIA-X principles—, DECADE-X was formally launched in 2025 by founding members Airbus, BoostAeroSpace, Collins Aerospace, Liebherr, and Thales. These companies envisioned a collaborative data infrastructure that addresses the unique needs of all stakeholders, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

DECADE-X is establishing close collaboration with national innovation initiatives such as Germany’s Aerospace-X consortium (launched in April 2024 with over 30 partners) and France’s national consortium. The association aims to unify such efforts under an international umbrella, fostering cross-border interoperability and shared standards.
